The shutdown of Jetstar Asia must have been seen as an opportunity by Scoot Airlines and its parent company Singapore Airlines. The Singapore-based Jetstar Airlines subsidiary, served many same destinations as Scoot and was a direct competitor. With the Australian outfit out of the way there is more breathing space and opportunity to launch new routes. The wait for new services to come around didn’t take all that long with the Singapore low cost carrier announcing 3 in one go to commence from December 2025.
Three New Destinations: Chiang Rai, Okinawa, and Tokyo Haneda
Three new destinations will be joining the growing Scoot Airlines route network. Two will be heading to Japan and one to Thailand. As most of Scoot’s services these too are primarily catered to the travel needs of the leisure traveler. A message which is reinforced by the aggressive launch promotional pricing strategy.

The only service of the three new that will soon launch to also appeal to a business customer is Tokyo Haneda. Haneda is the most central airport in the Tokyo metropolitan area and is the airport of choice if you need rapid access to the city center. Scoot already serves the other Tokyo major airport, Narita, which is however much further out of the city.
The other two services to Okinawa and Chiang Rai are clearly leisure oriented. Okinawa will launch ahead of the summer holidays in Australia and New Zealand offering a one stop solution to get to the Japanese island. Chiang Rai Scoot flights will launch just a few weeks later still during the southern summer high season window.

A Regional, a Narrow and a Wide Body Aircraft For The New Scoot Routes
Now on to the interesting aircraft choices for these new Scoot Airlines routes within Asia. The Singaporean airline will be putting to use, on these new routes, the full spectrum of aircraft types it owns: regional, single aisle and wide body.

The shortest route TR8, Singapore to Chiang Rai, will be operated using the latest aircraft type to join the Scoot Airlines fleet: the Embraer E190-E2. Scoot is one of the airlines who preferred the performance and size characteristics of the E190-E2 over the airbus alternative A220. With the Embraer regional jets in its fleet it operates aircraft from all three major manufacturers. Routes like the Singapore to Chiang Rai ones are exactly why Scoot ordered the E190-E2, it allows to run services with lower demand, such as this one, while remaining profitable.
Pricing: Fares Starting from SGD 128
Scoot is being quite aggressive with its launch fares on these routes. If you’re lucky enough you could end up booking one of these services for as low as 128 Singapore dollars which equates to approximately 85 Euro. For that price you do of course get the bare fare travel experience which includes little more than a seat aboard the flight. Tickets went on sale August 12th for all new destinations on the airline’s app and website.
Increased Flight Frequencies for Holiday Season 2025-2026
Along with launching 3 new destinations Scoot Airlines is also powering up a number of its existing ones to double down on expected traffic increases. The frequency increases will also involve one of the LCC’s (Low Cost Carrier) European routes, however, most frequency increases will involve the numerous destinations it serves across Asia, such as:
