Despite the Ukrainian’s airspace having been shut down for years now, there are still airlines from the country operating, albeit not from and to their homeland. One of the airlines is SkyUp, which isn’t the most talked about airline out there simply because it has primarily focused on offering wet-lease services to other carriers in Europe and beyond. A New Route and Airline for Berlin Airport With SkyUp’s Latest Service
As mentioned, generally we don’t see SkyUp’s name on many flights. The airline following the closing of Ukrainian airspace has relocated its planes in various parts of the world and has specialized in offering wet-leasing services to airlines that are in need of filling operational gaps.
However, this story is a bit different with SkyUp putting its own name on a new flight it is launching from Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The flight, numbered U5702, links on a twice per week basis the German capital to Chisinau, Moldova.
The flight serves a double purpose, offering expats and tourists a way to get to Moldova along with offering Ukrainians an alternative travel option to get in and out of their home country. Moldova is a small country and its capital is not that far away from Ukrainian territory making it a viable option for those in need to make the trip.
