Business class in Europe is far from being a glamorous and luxurious experience. Over the decades the experience has reverted to a premium version of economy class. Few airlines have dedicated business class cabins for European flights with most simply blocking the middle seat to create a less dense seat configuration. What does differentiate business class from economy class is the service, and that’s where airlines try up their offering. Among them SWISS with the latest product update for flights originating in Geneva.
SWISS Adds Meal Pre-Select on Short Haul Flights From Geneva
First of all it must be said that there’s a catch. Although it is true that meal pre-select is available short haul flights, this is only the case on flights that have a duration in excess of 2 hours. That cuts down significantly the number of flights this service is applied to due to the central geographical position of Switzerland in Europe.
Nonetheless passenger traveling in business class on SWISS flights departing from Geneva have the possibility to pre-select their meal option from a list of 6 possibilities up to 24 hours before the flight’s departure time. Also minor catch, your flight, to be eligible, will need to depart after 10:00. The new service went online on June 4th 2025 and adds a small additional personalization to European and medium haul business class travel.
Among the 6 options are two dishes SWISS’ catering has come up with:
- A fish dish inspired by the current ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ menu, which is generally only offered on SWISS long-haul services.
- The popular Zurich-style sliced veal with mushroom cream sauce and rà¶sti, which is such an iconic item of Swiss cuisine.
The airline states that 2 of the 6 options are maintained as vegetarian options and further two as meat ones to appeal to all dietary preferences.
