Here’s what the new Lufthansa A380 Business Class looks like

The Lufthansa schedule released at the beginning of April revealed that the airline was going to be putting online the new version of its A380 business class. I had written a post about it at the beginning of the month; however, now we have some pictures of what the business class actually looks like.

Finally a 1-2-1 configuration in Lufthansa business class on the A380

While yesterday the airline hit us with the news that baggage will be a paid service starting May 2026, today we have something a little bit more relaxed to talk about. Specifically, Lufthansa’s newly renovated business class cabin.

Finally, Lufthansa is coming out of the dark ages and entering a more modern way to travel in 2026 with the 1-2-1 layout in its business class cabin for the A380. No longer will passengers have to endure the archaic 2-2-2 setup Lufthansa used to have.

That therefore means that the airline will be keeping these planes in service for yet a long time. However, it’s hard to get particularly excited about what they did with the seat. It’s a rather standard remake which modernizes the interior and secures direct aisle access for all passengers.

No Allegris, but a major upgrade for the A380

Unfortunately, passengers on the Airbus A380 will not have access to the flagship Allegris cabins that the airline is installing on its Boeing 787s and on its A350s.

With the 1-2-1 configuration coming to the A380, that has translated to a reduction of overall business class capacity, with now 68 seats available.

The seat on the Airbus A380 is a Thompson-produced Vantage XL. Each seat has a width of 58cm. None of the central two seats have the so-called Honeymoon configuration with the seats close to each other. They are all at the same distance, with the configuration having a staggered layout, with one row of window seats closer to the fuselage and one row further away.

The new seat has an improved IFE system with an 18-inch Panasonic screen, which also allows Bluetooth connection of your own headsets to the in-flight entertainment.

The first aircraft to be fitted with the new business class configuration is D-AIMC. It first operated on Thursday, April 23rd, on LH452 flight from Munich (MUC) to Los Angeles (LAX).

Gradually, Lufthansa will be retrofitting this configuration on all of its A380 fleet. Therefore, initially, it will be a bit of a hit and miss on when you will find the new configuration on an A380 flight operated by Lufthansa.

The completion of the retrofitting is scheduled for mid-2027, and from there on, all A380s will be featuring the new configuration.
