Korean Air Suspends Flights Across The World Including Rome And Milan

As a result of the outbreak of Covid-19 in these first 2 months of 2020 Korean Air has suspended all its flights to Italy. Korean Air was serving Milan and Rome to Seoul’s Incheon Airport in South Korea. This is the first time in dacades that the Korean carrier doesn’t have a connection to Italy’s capital.

The suspension will suspend (cancel) flights until the 25th of April 2020. Of course we still don’t know if this suspension will be extended beyond this date. It all depends on how the situation will evolve around the world. The Korean Air flight suspension doesn’t affect only flight from and to Italy, but is infact much wider across its network.

The list of flights affected by this decision is long, as of today 5th of March 2020. For the latest updated information I’d recommend you visit the Korean Air website.

With this flight schedule reductions there will effectively not be direct flights between certain cities and Seoul. Such is the case of Rome. Along with Korean Air, Asiana also suspended it’s flights and Alitalia had planned month ago to close this route this spring.

To the US the situation is a little less problematic than to Europe. There are more flight that have been subject to a reduction but not totally suspended.

What Happens If Your Flight is Suspended/Cancelled

This is definitely a situation and problem that many people are facing right now with the Korean Air flight variations. I have faced this issue myself, as I had a booking for my wife and myself from Rome to Seoul for next month. I explained in detail what I found out from my experience in this situation in this post. I went into the detail of which are the solutions that the airline offers in this situation.

When will everything go back to normal?

Unfortunately we don’t know yet when flights and travel across countries will go back to normal. It’s not absurd to think that limitations and suspensions of flights from and to South Korea might even be prolongued beyond April 25th. So stay tuned for possible further changes and suspensions. I’ll try my best to keep you updated but make sure to take a look at the airline’s site from time to time.
