Air India Presents Its New Frequent Flyer Program Maharaja Club

Air India Presents Its New Frequent Flyer Program Maharaja Club

Air India has over the past several months unveiled a totally new look and feel to represent its new brand identity. This is the result of the very long process that brought Vistara and Air India to merge into one large airline just a few days ago. Air India maintained its name but the identity has been massively changed. The airline has a new modern livery and all corporate communications have a very different feel to the legacy ones of the prior decades. What is also changing is the airline’s Frequent Flyer program, which from now on will be the Maharaja Club.

Out With Flying Returns and Club Vistara in With The Maharaja Club

As Vistara merged with Air India, so did the two airlines’ frequent flyer programs. Club Vistara ceased to exist and Flying Returns lived on, but not for that long. The new airline born from the merger along with changing much of its brand identity decided to also give its frequent flyer program an all new look.

Therefore, even Flying Returns is now ceasing to exist as it gives way to the new Maharaja Club frequent flyer program. This is the new name for the Indian flag carrier‘s loyalty program.

Features and benefits of the new Maharaja Club are the same as those Flying Returns ensured up to just a few days ago. There is no change. This is an effort the airline is making to cut ties with the past and possibly sell its products to new audiences with an all new look and feel.

This might also be the end of the line for the cute historical Air India mascotte the little Maharaja which in its old design now really doesn’t fit in with the new corporate identity. Let’s see if he too makes a comeback with an updated look.

Air India Maharaja Club New Frequent Flyer Tiers

The new Maharaja Club frequent flyer program will have 4 tiers, just as flying returns had. Namely:

  • Red
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum

The currency of Air India’s loyalty program will, however, change name becoming the Maharaja Points. Also each flyer will now have a Maharaja Club ID associated with their account.
