The highest tier of an airline loyalty program is the dream of any frequent flyer. However getting to such status is not easy, it takes a lot of traveling and also some strategic planning. Emirates, this Christmas season, is putting up seats in its highest open tier up for auction. Here’s how Emirates‘ Platinum status auction is going to work.

What Is Emirates Skywards Platinum and Why Is It So Exclusive?

Emirates is among the largest airlines in the world. It operates the largest international operation and connects Dubai to an endless list of destinations worldwide. Its loyalty program is one of the most sought after and solid programs out there.

The program’s highest status open to all travelers is the Platinum tier. It is extremely difficult to get to Platinum. It involves:

  • Earning 150.000 Tier Miles
  • Completing 1 qualifying flight in Business or First Class

As part of a charitable venture, this 2025 Christmas season, the airline is putting a number of seats in its Platinum Tier up for auction. Allow me to go more into detail.

How Does the Emirates Skywards Platinum Auction Work?

The auction is quite straight forward. You register on the Emirates Auction website (https://www.emiratesauction.com/register), you pay a refundable deposit to unlock your account and then place your bid for the available Platinum tier loyalty numbers.

The bidding is open from December 17th 2025 through January 17th 2026. Benefits associated with the the awarded Platinum Tiers will last up to 20 years.

The duration of the benefits will depend on the winning bid. I’d imagine the higher the bid the longer the duration of the benefits in years, up to a maximum of 20 years.

Winning bids will be notified within 24 hours of the auction process closing on January 17th.

I did write a full post about the Emirates Skywards loyalty program and you can go back and check it out here, however, for those new to the program here are some benefits a Platinum membership entitles you to:

  • Complimentary lounge access (away from Dubai)
  • Dedicated airport checkin
  • Excess baggage allowance
  • Priority baggage handling
  • Priority boarding
  • Skywards miles don’t expire (as long as Platinum tier is retained)
  • Gold Partner nomination

How Many Platinum Memberships Are Being Auctioned?

There are only 7 Platinum memberships up for sale. They all have some very peculiar numbers which further increase the exclusivity of the offer. The 7 Emirates Skywards Platinum memberships up for auction are:

  • 2111111111
  • 6000000005
  • 6999999996
  • 7000000000
