Flying Blue launches a monthly miles subscription: 4 tiers, pricing, and who it’s for

Flying Blue's new "Subscribe to Miles" plan explained: costs, price-per-mile math, key rules, and whether it beats buying miles on promo.

Avios paved the way with its Privilege Club Pro program and now we have another loyalty program following in its footsteps. Flying Blue, Air France-KLM Group loyalty program, also allows travelers to subscribe and receive miles every month. Here's how it works and if it's a good fit for you.

Flying Blue's 4 Subscription Tiers – Costs and Miles

The way the subscription tiers are structured, is done so to appear attractive even to not so frequent travelers. The entry level tier is priced similarly to many streaming platform monthly subscriptions. The remaining 3 have a higher cost and are skewed towards a more frequent traveler persona.

How The Flying Blue Miles Subscription Works

The system is the same we use for many services we use in our everyday life. You pay a monthly fee and get credited a fixed amount of loyalty points every month. No different from what Qatar Airways launched in 2025 with the Privilege Club Pro subscription to build up Avios points.

If you are interested in the service you can subscribe following this link. However, I do advise to read the rest of the post to learn all the details about Flying Blue's point subscription service.

A Very Enticing Cost per Point Offering

What really makes this subscription attractive is the low price per mile the Air France-KLM Group is charging. Not only the larger tiers have competitive prices but the entry level “Starter” too. Here's the breakdown of the price per mile by subscription level:

  • Starter: 1.4 Euro cents per mile
  • Smart: 1.3 Euro cents per mile
  • Advanced: 1.2 Euro cents per mile
  • Complete: 1.1 Euro cents per mile

For reference those prices are equal or lower to special promotions Flying Blue puts out throughout the year. Generally when buying Flying Blue points on special, you'd have to buy one of the larger cuts to get a price of 1.4 cents per mile. That is the price applied to the entry level tier of the subscription.

I must remind you that miles sold as part of the subscription are not tier qualifying points. They will not help you in any way achieve or maintain any specific tier in the Flying Blue program.

Miles won’t expire as long as your Flying Blue subscription remains active.

Miles Don't Expire With Subscription Active

The second aspect that makes this an attractive proposition is that miles don't expire while the subscription is active. As long as you maintain your subscription you're off the hook in terms of having to use your miles before a deadline or having necessarily to fly with the airlines to extend the expiry.

Who's A Good Match for The Flying Blue Miles Subscription?

As you might have guessed this isn't a good match for anyone. It primarily caters to the needs of a very specific profile of travelers. Flying Blue's mile subscription might be a good for those who:

  • Have an award flight in sight and are missing miles to reach that threshold to book.
  • Passengers that travel usually with Air France and KLM and want to have a constant flow of miles coming into their account regardless of their flying activity.
  • Passengers who travel, not all that often, that might incur in difficulties with point expiry deadlines.

Who Isn't a Good Fit For the Flying Blue Miles Subscription

Let's wrap things up by covering who might be better off steering clear of this solution. If you are:

  • Building up points without a clear goal.
  • Not sure you'll be able to extract the maximum value out of them.

The reason is quite simple. Miles are often subjected to devaluation, which can massively decrease what you can buy with them. Keeping points idle on your account means risking losing money if the airline decides to devaluate them.

If this were to happen, you'd end up with the same amount of miles but a lower true value as you'd be able to purchase much less with them.

Other Info You Need To Know

  • Minimum subscription duration is 3 months.
  • You have a 14 day cooldown period, as long as you don't use the miles on rewards.
  • Miles are credited within 72 hours of payment.
  • You can't pause the subscription or upgrade/downgrade once you choose one.
