JetBlue while working on restructuring operations to turn profits more consistently in the domestic market is also working on expanding its international footprint. The focus of the expansion hasn't changes from its first long haul flight attempts. The American airline is further enhancing its services across the Atlantic from the US northeast to Europe. Latest route additions include Madrid and Edinburgh.
More Transatlantic Flights for JetBlue Over the 2025 Summer Season
Madrid and Edinburgh are the newest destinations to enter JetBlue's route network. Madrid is the seventh destination, or more precisely airport, to enter the US carrier's route, in Europe. I pointed that out because London has two airports served by JetBlue: Heathrow and Gatwick.
The new routes are both seasonal and have already commenced operations and both originate in Boston. Both services, Boston to Madrid and Boston to Edinburgh, started operating the routes on May 22nd 2025 and will continue to do so throughout the summer season until October 25th. Edinburgh, contrary to Madrid, isn't a new entry in the JetBlue network. The airline already operates flights from New York JFK during the summer months, with this new service piggybacking of the success of the JFK one.

As you might have guessed from the season the flight will be operating in, this is mainly a leisure oriented set of routes. There has been huge demand and attention on transatlantic routes, as many Americans have flocked to Europe for their summer holidays over the past 4 to 5 years. JetBlue's hope? To get a decent enough chunk of the pie to help boost profits over the massively important summer month.
How Will JetBlue Operate it's new Boston Madrid and Boston Edinburgh Flights?
Flight will be, of course, operated aboard one of the airline's many Airbus A321LRs. However, the configuration will be the long range optimized one featuring a 2-class layout offering Mint Suites (Business class) and economy class.
Business class is setup in a 1-1 layout offering lie-flat seats which make for very comfortable travel, while economy class is setup in the most classic of layouts 3-3.
Both flights, Boston to Madrid B6 2261 and Boston to Edinburgh B6 1079, will be daily services throughout the period of activity. They will operate as follows:
Boston to Madrid B6 2261
- B6 2261: Departs Boston (BOS) at 22:25, arrives the next morning in Madrid (MAD) at 11:30.
- B6 2260: Departs Madrid (MAD) at 13:30 arriving into Boston (BOS) at 15:24.
