Kobe Will Be Korean Air’s 16th Japanese Destination

Korean Air readies to start up a new flight to Japan in spring 2025 with double daily service to Kobe.

Korean Air is one of the big and major players in East Asian aviation. The airline has just completed Asiana's takeover and is now looking at the future bullishly to strengthen its position in the region. One of the first expansions to come following the acquisition is to Japan, a key market for the Korean flag carrier. Here's when and how it'll operate.

Off The Bat Double Daily Flights to Kobe For Korean Air – A Business Oriented Service?

The destination isn't anything particularly fancy, it simply aims to strengthen Korean Air as a travel option for both transit passengers and business clientele.

Korean Air's newest Japanese destination will be Kobe. Situated just a 20 minute Shinkansen ride from Osaka, literally on the other side of the bay, but very important for the airline's destination portfolio.

Although very close to Osaka, offering flights to Kobe eliminates the inconvenience of having to travel from one city to the other. Time is precious for all of us but it is more if you are on a business trip.

I also read into the scheduling decision a level of focus to the business traveler, as the airline will be operating a double daily service from Seoul Incheon to Kobe from day one. Therefore, offering convenient travel options for a day work trip.

The Only Direct Seoul to Kobe Flight – Scheduling and Launch Date

Interestingly, these two daily flights Korean Air is preparing to launch on the Seoul to Kobe route will be the only direct and non-stop solution for travelers.

Currently no airline, not even low-cost carriers, operate Seoul to Kobe flights. An interesting thing to point out, the cities are quite close and have a vast user base, yet so far the only option was to travel to Osaka's Kansai International Airport to fly to Seoul. That implies traveling a longer distance and navigating one of Asia's busiest airports.

Korean Air's new flight will start serving the route on April 18th 2025 and will operate daily as follows:

  • Flight KE731 will depart Seoul Incheon (ICN) at 08:25 –> Arriving in Kobe (UKB) at 10:00
  • Flight KE733 will depart Seoul Incheon (ICN) at 15:50 –> Arriving in Kobe (UKB) at 17:30
  • Flight KE732 will depart Kobe (UKB) at 11:00 –> Arriving in Seoul Incheon (ICN) at 13:00
  • Flight KE734 will depart Kobe (UKB) at 18:30 –> Arriving in Seoul Incheon (ICN) at 20:40

Flights will be operated using narrow body planes. Specifically KE will be deploying its Boeing 737NG fleet on this new Seoul to Kobe route. The airline's Boeing 737-900ERs feature a standard, for East Asia, short haul configuration featuring:

  • 8 Business Class seats in a 2-2 layout
  • 165 Economy Class seats in a 3-3 layout

Once Kobe enters the Korean Air route network that will bring the tally of Japanese destinations to an impressive 16 for Korean Air.
