Lufthansa Adds Flights From Frankfurt and Munich in 2023

European aviation giant Lufthansa is moving forwards with its plan to regain pre pandemic levels of passengers carried in 2023. To do so the German flag carrier will add a series of new destinations from its two main hubs of Frankfurt and Munich. Let's take a closer look at which connections will commence in 2023 and some details about them.

New Lufthansa Flights From Frankfurt

2023 will see the UK welcome quite a few more flights from Lufthansa. The German flag carrier will start on the 23rd of April 2023:

  • A 4 times weekly connections to the Northern Irish capital of Belfast. The connection will operate under Flight number LH1528.
  • A twice daily connection to London Gatwick Airport. These two additional flights to London will fly with numbers LH1520 and LH1522.

Gatwick will become London's third airport to have a Lufthansa connection, after Heathrow and London City Airport.

Other brand new destinations for LH will be:

  • Asturias Airport (flight number LH1552) in proximity to the cities of Oviedo and Gijon with a 3 times weekly frequency.
  • Skopje (flight number LH1540), the capital of Northern Macedonia, with a frequency reaching 2 times daily in peak season starting April 23rd 2023.
  • Biarritz (flight number LH1550) in France once a week, every Saturday, from April 29th 2023.

New Flights From Munich Airport

Lufthansa's other major hub will also see operations start to new destinations or others missing from quite some time. In 2023 Lufthansa will connect Munich International Airport to:

  • Asturias Airport (flight number LH1792) in proximity to the cities of Oviedo and Gijon every Saturday.
  • Bordeaux with a 3 times weekly frequency starting April 25th 2023.
  • Rzeszow (flight number LH1604) will have a daily connections to Munich starting April 23rd 2023.

Summer on the other hand will see some ULR operations return to Munich Airport. Specifically:

  • Osaka (flight LH742) with a 3 times per week frequency starting May 2nd 2023
  • Mexico City (flight LH520) with a 3 times weekly frequency starting June 2nd 2023

Both of these destinations will be served by Lufthansa's long range fleet of Airbus A350-900s. These new routes should help the airline reach its goal of returning to 87% of pre-pandemic levels.
