Ryanair is no doubt about it the airline that carries the most passengers around Europe. This is the way things have been for a very long time now. The airline cashed in on being the first to introduce the ultra low cost model in Europe and has grown to become a giant of civil aviation. After a couple of rough years, due to the covid emergency, the airline has gone back to crushing passenger number records. 2023 is set to be another record breaking 12 months.
Ryanair Carries Over 11 Milioni Passengers in November 2023
In just one month Ryanair has carried more passengers than many airlines see in a full year. Traffic figures are already in excess of what they were before 2020.
More in detail November 2023 saw the Irish low cost carrier transport 11.7 million passengers across its extensive network. What is truly remarkable is the load factor the airline achieved once again. It clocked in a 94% in November 2023.
Clearly Ryanair doesn’t make a huge profit on all tickets sold. However it is quite easy for the airline to sell ancillary services, products and charge fees once the ticket has been purchased.
That 11.7 million passengers marks a 4% growth compared to November 2022 when FR carried 11.2 million passengers.
Figures Helped By The Transatlantic Boom
Ryanair, and all other European carriers, benefitted by what was a record year for transatlantic travel. There was massive demand for flights across the Atlantic with many Americans choosing Europe for their holidays. This boom helped among others Ryanair to beef up its passenger figures for 2023. We’ll have to see if 2024 will follow the same trend.
A Record Breaking 2023
Along with November’s passenger figures we also got the rolling stats for 2023. Well it is looking like this will be a record breaking year for the airline. Year to date Ryanair has carried 180,8 million passengers, growing the 2022 figures by 14%. Load factor overall for 2023 is also up on 2022 at 94% compared to 91%.
